Unable to Install IE7: ERROR LOG FINDING: MVP HELP!

IE7 won't install; All suggested options failed; Microsoft technician failed
thus far. I did find an "Advanced Error Log" in my machine though that listed
4 errors: (1) IE7 Installation Failed. Access Denied. (2) IE7 Hotfix
installation failed. IE7 installation did not complete. (Both of these first
two were sourced from the HD.) (3) Faulting aplication iexplore.exe, version
6.0.2900.2180, faulting module stmain.dll, version 3.1.0.72, fault address
0x000087aa . (4) Fault Bucket 339237019 . (Both errors 3 and 4 were sourced
"Application Error"). This is new info just located. Do you MVP's no how to
pinpoint this issue and tell me how to solve it? Deeply appreciated! One
note: In previous months, I had initially installed Beta 2 and Beta 3 IE7s,
and Windows Update updated this to final IE7, which I used for awhile, but
after enduring 8-10 second delays in closing web page windows (not IE7
itself), I decided to uninstall and reinstall. The MS tech had me purge all
"old" IE7 file versions today...but still not successful. I found Errors #3
and #4 above listed on the log just now. Hope it is a clue to the problem.

I forgot one logged Error: It was a "Windows Update Agent" error that said:
"Installation Failure: Windows Failed to install the following update with
error 0x80070643: Windows IE7 for XP. (However, I believe the real
errors that give a clue are #3 and #4 below.
