Unable to install 9800 GT+ video card into Windows XP Home HELP

I have a new system I built with onboard video and wanted to upgrade for
gaming. I have disabled the olnboard video and removed the old drivers , even
tried EVERYTHING in safe mode , VGA mode , etc. It sees my card during boot
up but when it boots up and I go to install the driver it says "The NVIDIA
setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your
current hardware"
Setup will now exit.
I have spent hours and hours and still get his message. It`s not seeing my
card after it boots and iv`e tried everyting in every order imaginable. I
hate to be defeated by a computer , but I`m going to go back to Frys and get
the 4850 ATI card if nobody can help. I have googled it and tried every
suggestion to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes...I even got the latest chipset drivers as a Google article said it is a
conflict with the nForce drivers. No dice...still no go. That`s what I get
for getting a MOBO with a nVidia chipset ;) I`m going to go with ATI 4850 and
if it doesn`t work , going to get an Intel-based MOBO. I get an exclamation
mark (yellow) on one of the PCI-TO-PCI bridges and it says it can`t find
enough resources !

it appears to me that you haven't installed the motherboard drivers, is this
the case?

Did you install the motherboard drivers?

Some chips may require that other drivers are also
installed, for example 1394 firewire driver required
to be installed in order for Network chip to function.

Check Device Manager for other missing drivers
(The yellow ?) and install necessary drivers and try video
driver again.

Motherboard should have come with a drivers CD.

I just got done explaining that I loaded the very latest MOBO drivers and it
didn`t help. It runs perfectly with the onboard video.

Is your OS a clean install, or was the hard drive moved from
one old motherboard to another ?

Also, what is the make and model number of your current motherboard.
Do you have a web page link to the motherboard ?

Do you also have a link to the video card product page ?

It makes it easier to research your hardware, if we know
exactly what it is.

if your getting an exclamation mark on your northbridge chip, it's due to not
installing the proper motherboard drivers, or you have some other hardware
fault with the motherboard.

if you have installed the proper motherboard drivers then the only other
cause is a hardware fault, did you research the proper memory chips for your
board?

mine required special gold heat sink memory chips, that had been approved
for my board. expensive, but my mb is fast and reliable.

Yeah, I'll bet he moved the hard drive. He needs to do a repair install.

All is good now...I took the Nvidia card back and got the Diamond Radeon 4850
and could not be happier. I also got an Intel based Asus MOBO ;)
