I am trying to import a movie to : Windows Movie Maker, but I get a mesage
that it is not a supported file type, therefore it cannot be imported. I am
using a "Nikon Camera", using Quick Time Movie, with extension: ".Mov". What
can I do?

Please can you tell me how to rename a MOV file to AVI file like suggested to
try on your Web Site? Thank you

I downloaded Rad Video Tools, as you said. When asked about the Compression
Format, the Web Site suggested to choose: Pic Video MJPEG Codec - quality 20.
But in the Video Compression drop down list, there was no such choice, so I
chose: Full Frames (Uncompressed). The video plays all interrupted & there is
no sound, just noise. What can I do? Wouldn't it be easier to rename a MOV
File to AVI File as suggested on your Web Site under: Importing Source Files
Video > MOV. But how do you rename a file?
Thank you Papajohn for all your help.

OK, I see what you're reading, but it isn't my statement... it was someone
who sent me an email on May 16 of 2003...

full frames uncompressed wouldn't include the audio... try some others...
see the Importing Source Files > Video > Recorded TV page of my site...
there's a table showing some of the codec choices that work for me... use a
short clip and try a bunch of different ones, and be sure in Rad Video Tools
to have the option checked to include the audio.

so I chose: Full Frames (Uncompressed). The video plays all interrupted &

The uncompressed AVI file is not for playback (unless you have a very fast
hard disk)... but you should be able to use it for editing. Can you? When
you finally publish your video in a compressed format (DV AVI or WMV) the
playback will be fine.

Thank you Papajohn for your response. I used the "Indeo Video 5.10" format &
it worked well for the first movie. Thereafter it worked well only for about
every second movie. All the videos were taken with the same Nikon Coolpix
Camera. When I choose AVI in the "Output Type" & click on Convert, the
display goes back to the window in which to select the movie I want to
convert. I never get to the window in which to choose the Compression Format
I want to convert the movie in. Sometimes I get a "Microsoft Error Report",
which I sent but didn't get any answer. Any hope to still making work?

Fishing for the codec on your system that works best for you, and trying the
other software referenced on my website page, are all I can suggest.

.... and I shouldn't have said that uncompressed files don't include the
audio...

disappeared...Searched and found file but it will not open in MM...PLEASE CAN
