Cannot import my movie into windows movie maker

I own an olympus sp-350 camera. I shot a video with it this weekend. When I
downloaded the movie from my camera onto my hard drive I noticed that it's a
quick time movie. When I attempted to import the movie into my collection I
received this message:

The file D:\My Pictures\A1 Olmpus Camera Folder\Dad's 90th
Birthday\P3310030.MOV is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported
into Windows Movie Maker.

So how do I get it into movie maker?

Thanks!

I found the answer myself by doing a search at this forum. It seems I am not
the first person to ask this question!

Are you saying you have .mov files? They
must be converted to a compatible format
before you can import them into Movie maker.

The full retail version of Apple QuickTime Pro
is probably the best route.

And here are a few more possibilities:

Movie Maker 2 - Converting
MOV Files

Using Rad Video Tools

Convert .mov using TMPGEnc
and the TMPGEnc Mov Plugin

Well I download *(Pazera Free MOV to AVI Converter 1.1)* It converted
fine. But when I put it into Windows Movie Maker I get this.
*_C:\Documents_and_Settings\Ray\My_Documents\My_Pictures\Macy.avi_could_not_be_imported._The_required_codec_was_not_downloaded_automatically_because_the_Download_codecs_automatically_check_box_is_not_selected_in_the_Options_dialog_box._*
If any of you can help me it would that would be nice.
==============================================

Try the following free online converter:

Media-Convert
http://media-convert.com/

A lot of formats are supported
100% Free online file conversion
no installation, no virus and spywares

==================================
Apple Quicktime conversion instructions

1) In the "File" field...click the "Browse"
button and navigate to the .mov file you
wish to convert. When you select the
file...the path will appear in the 'File' field.

2) The "Input format" field should automatically
show..."Apple Quicktime (.mov)" leave it
as is...

3) "Output" format has two drop windows...
the field on the left will display, "No video
preset"...leave it as is...

4) In the next drop window to the right
you can choose the format you wish to
convert to...try:

Windows Media Video (.wmv)
or.....
Audio Video Interleave (.avi)

5) Left click the blue *OK* button.

Now...wait for the file to be converted.
(be patient)

When the conversion is complete you will see:

File successfull converted !

Your file will appear to the right of a small green
arrow......left click the file name...the Save As
screen will appear...left click the Save button /
Choose a folder to save in (I always download
to my Desktop)...left click the Save button.

When the file is downloaded you should be able
to play it with Windows Media Player and it should
be compatible with Movie maker.

That's it! Good luck.
