Unable to have more than one instance of IE 6 open

I have a client's computer that is unable to have more
than one instance of IE 6 open at any given time.
While browsing if you navigate to page that generates
some sort of a "pop-up" - either advertisement or
legitimate pop-up window (like a download window)-the
existing instance of IE is closed and the new window is
opened in it's place. Anyone have any thoughts??

The only thing I can think of ,besides maybe malware on
your system is this:
Click tools/internet options/advanced
Unselect "reuse windows for launching shortcuts"
Click "Apply"
