I managed a successful clean install, however, I am now unable to connect to
the

address from
the netgear router.

I am able to connect my vista notebook wirelessly using the router.

Go to Device Manager. Do you see any yellow exclamation points next to any
of the devices?

yes. under "other devices" "multimedia audio controller" "pci simple
communications controller" usb controller" "video controller (vga compatible)"

You need to install the drivers for your hardware.

thanks for your help.

should I reinstall the original drivers that came with the pc?

Yes, depending on how old the PC is. If the machine is a few years old,
there may be updated drivers available. Go to the PC maker's website and
download the drivers for your model computer and copy them to a flash drive.
Use the flash drive to install them to the computer that needs them. Copy
them to a file under My Documents that you create called Downloaded Drivers.
That way you'll always know where they are. Run the install routines from
there, starting with the chipset driver first.

installed drivers from cd that came with the pc. I am now back online.

thanks for your help.
