Unable to find a repeater on my wireless network

I recently purchased a dlink dwl-G800AP access point repeater to expand my
wireless network range. I have dlink di-624 wireless router which is
compatible with the dwl-G800AP. I am also using a compaq presario 2100us
laptop that has a Broadcom 802.11bg wireless adapter in it. The Broadcom
cannot find the repeater using windows to configure the wireless network. I
read that windows xp wireless confinguration utility cannot recognize two
SSID with the same ID (necessary in repeater mode). Has anybody encounered
this problem? Any suggestions?

Is your DI-624 a RevC model or a lower rev. The DWL-G800AP will on repeate a
DI-624 (revC) 2.37 and higher.

windholz,
You said you upgraded the router. My experience with the DI-624, is that the
upgrade returns the router's setting back to the factory defaults. If you
made custom changes to these settings. You will need to change them back to
your desired settings.

Did you also upgrade the firmware for the repeater, too? You may need to
this first, by connecting the AP to your computer or router. This upgrade
should not be done wirelessly. The upgrade may also change you settings back
to the factory default ones.

If you have WEP installed on the router and wireless card, it might be
easier if you tried disabling it. Then re-enable it, when you get things up
and running. Also on the router did you change the SSID name to something
unique, not using the "default" name. You maybe getting interferance from
your "neighbor's" wireless LAN set-up.
