Unable to exit startup

An unknown virus corrupted the executable files in xp.
This disabled all operating programs. Using XP boot
disks, I tried to reinstall xp home but program asks for
source of dll files (unknown). No other way to exit
installation besides pushing off button. When I use boot
disks again computer will only return to installation
mode with no known exit. HELP!!!

Hi

Which AV program are you using and have you installed the latest definitions for that AV program? A 'unknown virus' message isn't acceptable. Can you boot into Safe Mode and run System Restore from there? Don't take the option to boot into SR when asked via Safe Mode, go through to SM and then run SR.

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
