Unable to edit online

I have been editing my web pages online. Now however, FrontPage opens the
page up but it is not online. Another words, it will not allow me to save
changes directly online as it did before. Does anyone know a solution for
this?

In IE, I open the web page that I want to edit online. I click on the
FrontPage icon and select "edit with frontpage". Normally, it opens
frontpage, asks for my username and password and allows me to edit and save
directly online. Now, it is opening the page without asking for my user/pw
and when I try to save, it only shows options for saving to my hard drive.

You need to be doing this through FrontPage itself, not IE.

I've been doing it through IE with no problem for years and that is the best
way for us since there are 3 people virtually doing edits from our home
offices. If we do it through FrontPage saving to our hard drive before
publishing, we would overwrite each other's edits. Is there a solution to
getting it to open for editing online in Internet Explorer?

Thank you. That appears to be the way to get it to open and save online.
However, when I did it, my FrontPage program shut down (after I typed my web
URL and pressed enter). There must be something wrong with it. Do you know if
there is a patch or correction for that problem?

Hi Lesley,

So you don't feel alone, I've been experiencing the same problem lately with
FP 2003. My Edit with Frontpage from the IE toolbar isn't working anymore
either (it worked great for 10 months)! I was using it only to update my
index.htm page components - the rest of my updates, I edit and publish the
normal way. Just like the experts said, it works great just to go into Front
Page and open your site and make the edits, save, etc.

Hope this helps!

Tom,

If you are going to edit online you must do the steps that Lesley stated:
Open IE, go to the web URL, Choose Edit with Microsoft Office FrontPage....

Lesley,

You can't edit on line if the FrontPage Server Extensions are corrupted or
not installed. If you can't reinstall from your Host's Control panel, ask
your host to reinstall the FP Server Extension.

That method of opening a web is not reliable. You will often (not
always) open the page in the Temporary Internet Files, not the live page
in the website.

The reliable method is to open the website with FrontPage:
File->Open Site and choose or type in http://www.example .com (where
example.com should be replaced by the domain name)

For FP2002 or earlier, use File->Open Web
