Unable to download with IE6

I have IE6 on a Win 98se pc. I use a dialup connection and have no firewall.
I cannot download from any web site. I get the message that IE was unable to
open the site, the site is unavailable or can't be found. I installed SP1
but that didn't resolve the issue and made it so that sending and receiving
email from Outlook didn't work. I was able to fix that by using Go Back. I
now have just IE6. I've checked for the Netscape plug-in like previous
articles have recommended. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
 
#1 roll back ie6 to ie 5.5 , then get a firewall i use
outpost or zone alarm. then check for scumware sounds
like you got some. or you can download mozilla browser.
