Unable to download updates.

The company that "upgraded" my computer over a year ago
is out of business. They installed Windows XP
pro, "cleaned and upgraded everything". I have been
unable to install any windows updates. I've tried a
number of things. The computer downloads then just stops
and sits there and won't install the updates. Can't
install Java updates either. HELP ANYONE?!!!

Your system has been working OK for a year? What have you done
recently? Or have you not attempted to install ANY windows updates over
the past year? What "Java updates" are you attempting, and how?

What "things" have you tried?

Please post back with the text of any error messages.
