Unable to download anything

I have updated IE to vers.6. It worked fine then all of a
sudden when going to a website to d/l anything I get the
following message:

IE was cannot download from (name of the file) from (web
page). IE was not able to open this internet site. The
requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found.
Please try again later." Ihave done so and yet I still
get the same message every time. Can somebody pls help?

Have uninstalled and re-installed several times, yet to no
avail.

Clear the IE cache. I.E./Tools/Options/General/Delete files (and delete
offline content.) It's often recommended that the Temporary Internet Files
(folder) be kept at
40-50 MB. Bigger isn't necessarily better.

If still no joy select "Problems" on this page for some clues.
