Unable to Delete Registry Acronis LEGACY_TIFS_FILTERS

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet003\Enum\Root\LEGACY_TIFSFILTER

Since installation date, I've been experiencing 20 min hangs in Acronis
prior to doing an Image. If left in the "Not Responding" hang, it will
somehow clear the problem and the Window will become active for me to hit
Start and away it goes as if nothing was wrong.

I tried to delete the two entries left in the Registry in :
LEGACY_TIFSFILTER and or the subfolder 0000 both the Acronis name under Data
then each of these folders in both locations, 001 and 003.

When I hit Delete, it produced one of this Windows:
Error Deleting Key: Cannot Delete LEGACY_TIFSFILTER: Error While Deleting
Key.

When I tried to just remove the Acronis entry under Data, I got this Window:
Error Editing Value: Cannot Edit DeviceDesc: Error writing the value's new
contents.

Is this a MS Protective Action or does it mean there's something wrong with
the way the keys were installed?

Why do both resulting Windows say it's an ERROR vs something like "Deletion
Prevented".

I've deleted and reinstalled the program a nbr of times to see if the
"hanging" problem would be rectified hence this more drastic action seemed to
me to be the only avenue left.

I'm at a loss as to what choices are left to successfully get Acronis
TrueImage installed void of these 20 Minute Hanging experiences. I guess
I've tried often enough to know I'm unable to do so unless something gets
corrected in my System.

I've deleted Roxio Version 6 and it's leftover registry entries a week ago
thinking that might be the cause but there's no difference. I hesitate to
install Roxio V8 while this problem exists.

I'm wondering if these Registry Filter entries are the cause.

Any suggestions or theories as to what may be causing the "hangs"? ... Thx

I recommend you check the Acronis FAQs. If your question
is not covered there, try the Acronis helpdesk. They usually
respond promptly to user questions.

Hi Pegasus, Irregardless of the Acronis Hang, can u shed any light on the
Registry's resulting Error Windows or is it normal not to be able to delete
those entries?
Any further comments would be appreciated.

You should be able to delete them by first altering
the permissions so that everyone has full access.
Right-click the offending key, then click Permissions.
Observe the usual warnings about hacking the registry . . .

Thx Pegasus, I was about to delete the whole folder but seeing as I have
your attn, would u mind advising whether I'd just delete the Acronis name
under Data, or the subfolder: 0000 or the main folder: Legacy_Tifs_Filters.

Shouldn't those folders be deleted when the program is deleted in
Add/Remove?

Your guess is as good as mine. Create a Restore Point
if you don't want to run a risk.

LOL I'll wager u a sizable bet that my guess ISN'T as good as yours!
I'm tempted to delete the 0000 folder as Acronis is the only named entry.

Thx Pegasus for replying and too for showing me that rt click menu!
