Unable to delete registry entries

B

I have winxp pro
I have just deleted AVG8 free virus scanner
The registry has dozens of AVG entries that I am unable to delete
A typical example is :-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_AVGLDX86

Most of them are in this Root area. Am I stuck with them forever?

Deleted or Uninstalled -? If you set an Environment Variable named
DevMgr_Show_NonPresent_Devices and set it's value =1 then go
to Device Manager, Click View & tic/check "Show Hidden Devices"
Expand the Non-Plug & Play category. You'll likely see a few AVG
orphaned services that you can Right Click and choose Uninstall.

I wouldn't worry - won't affect anything as far as you will notice....

Did you uninstall or did you delete?

The registry has dozens of AVG entries that I am unable to delete

How did you find out?
Why do you care?

Most of them are in this Root area. Am I stuck with them forever?

Here you can find an AVG removal tool:
http://www.avg.com/download-tools
(AVG Remover)

Messing up with the register (or register entries) is dangerous and
can cause (irreparable) damage of your Windows.

Thes entries have no effect whatsoever. Stop worrying and focus on the
things that matter.

OK, sorry, I meant Uninstalled AVG.
The consensus seems to be just leave them there so I will.
Thank you for answering.
