Error while deleting registry key

Sal

I'm trying to delete the registry key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\LPTENUM]

as per the recommendation in the KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298370/en-us.
However, when I try to delete it regedit returns: "error while
deleting key". How can a delete this key and try to solve the New
Hardware Found wizard from reappearing every time I boot?

Unistall and disconnect the "plug-n-play" printer.

I tried deleting the printer and unplugging the USB cable and still
get the same error message.

Sal, go to device manager and delete the printer. Then shut down Windows XP.
Unplug the printer. Then cold boot Windows XP and try again.
Is this still the HP 812c printer from the other thread about installing
from a CD? I thought so.
