unable to delete icon

Dear All,
I have an icon on my desktop I can't delete.
It is not a shortcut but a copy of a device on windows explorer. The
icon runs a programme called psiwin, which is a comms application
linking my now defunct psion palmtop (worked well since 1988) to the
computer.
I deleted the programme using windows remove applications procedure in
control panel, this invoked install shield to remove the programme.
Right clicking the icon does not have an option for me to delete it but
I can rename it.
Any ideas guys?

Use Windows Explorer and navigate to the following:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop
( View requires showing Hidden,Protected and Extensions)

See if the Icon appears in this folder, if so Right Click &
Click Delete.

Start>Run>regedit [enter]

Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace

Find the entry for psiwin and delete it.
