unable to delete folder: folder in use

I have a Windows Xp Pro machine on a network. My issue is as follows:

I open a file from a subfolder on a nework share, then close the file, and
then try to delete the entire subfolder. All the files in the subfolder will
be deleted, but then I get a message stating the folder itself cannot be
deleted because it is in use. The server doesn't show that I have the folder
open or in use.

One work around I have found to work is ending explorer.exe and starting
explorer.exe again. I am then able to delete the folder.

If I do not open a file in the folder first, then I have no prblems deleting
everything including the folder. But if I had opened a file at any point
then I run into the issue.

No other computers on this network have the same issue.

Any suggestions?

One thing to try is to wait 30 seconds after you close the folder because
sometimes xp likes to create a short cut in the recently used documents
folder to that file.

I have waited hours at a time, and still could not delete the folder without
first ending explorer.exe and restarting it.
