Bizarre behaviour of folder

T

Terry Pinnell

I've opened a folder X (a subfolder of my large Photos folder). There are
several other folders open. But X behaves as if it doesn't exist. I can't
operate on it or its contents in any way. And the mouse cursor vanishes
when moved over it.

I used Task Mgr to close explore.exe, then re-started it, expecting that
to fix it. But the strange behaviour on this folder persists.

I'll reboot my PC next (can't do so until I finish rendering a large
video) but meanwhile wonder if anyone has any ideas about the possible
cause please?

Did the reboot help, or no?
Have you checked for malware, offline.... that is, booting with an
anti-virus bootable rescue disk such as the Kaspersky rescue CD?
Have you at least done a full malware scan from within Windows
(anti-virus, anti-malware) plus a root kit scan with TDSSKiller?
