strange behaviour

using xp prof sp1, strange behaviour such as when I click "start" and move
the cursor over the "turn off computer" wording only, a screen will show that
it goes into hibernation.
other behaviour such as when i click say to open the doc, multiple copies
will be open. (both ps2/mouse and ps2/kb seems to be working ok when attached
to another pc). i have check the setting in the mouse, power option, folder
option and they are the same as the other pc.

sometimes when i click my doc and try to click "tool", it will not allow me
in the sens ethat the sub menu will not appear and i cannot go to the "folder
option",
after a while such behaviour would ceased and back to normal. the pc have
nothing install apart from xp.
any idea how can i fix this strange behaviour, many thanks

the cursor over the "turn off computer" wording only, a screen will show that
"it goes into hibernation" should ready as "preparing to standby and it will
sort of refresh the desktop"

in my power option/advance "when i press the sleep button my pc " it is set
"stand by" is this correct? please advice, thanks
