Unable to delete file

J

Josh S.

Hi, I have an MPEG file in My Documents folder that I
cannot delete. Every time I try to it tells me that
another person or program is using the file. This is a
standalone machine using a cable modem and Windows XP Home
with SP 1. I have tried booting the computer in safe mode
and I still can't delete the file (I get the same error
message).

Also, when I try to right click on the file to get the
properties the computer hangs up and I have to reboot.

I'm guessing that the file is corrupted somehow, but I'm
not sure. Is there a way I can force Windows XP to delete
the file?

Thanks in advance for any help

You could also try starting your computer in "safe mode". This will run
windows without starting most of the other stuff on your system. You should
be able to then delete the file.
