Unable to delete an unwanted folder/application

I found recently that, as a result of surfing, I'd gotten
an unwanted toolbar application downloaded onto my hard
drive. Fortunately, it came with its own "uninstall"
routine, which I ran immediately. However, if I try to
simply delete the folder in which this application
resides--or the application itself--now that the
uninstall is complete, I get an error message telling me
that I'm not authorized to do so. Punch line: I'm logged
in on my own machine as the administrator!

CleanSweep doesn't see the unwanted toolbar application,
so that's no help. Right now it's sitting there
silently, but I want this sucker gone once and for all.

One other thing: I don't want to go to the site where
this came from in the first place for a variety of
reasons, but the chief one is that I don't want this fool
thing to be revived and show up again.

Adaware and Spybot.

have you tried taking ownership of the folder while logged in as
Administrator?

OK, bear with me: not sure I understand fully. What
you're saying is to hit F8 during the boot-up process,
which will put me in safe mode. If I do that, then I
should be able to go into Explorer, find the unwanted
folder and its contents, and delete it.

Then, a shutdown should allow me to re-boot in normal
mode, correct?
