Hi everybody,

I'm under Windows 2000 Pro and i'd like to change my
TCP/IP properties : right click on the "connection to
local network" on the desktop's icon > properties >
Genral > Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)> "PROPERTIES" is
gray !!!

I'm the Administrator of the workstation and got all
rights/power.I'd like to change my Ip address to join a
DHCP or only to change of IP address but the BOX IS
GRAYED !!!
How can I change it ???

Properties remain gray until you pick something with is working like
the TCP/IP. If that is not checked then you have it to install. Then
and only then will Properties show up

Hi Billoute,

Just to confirm your problem:

Right-Click on 'My Network Places'
Properties
Right-Click on 'Local Area Connection'
Properties
Select Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)
Click Properties button.

And the whole dialog is greyed out. You cannot select 'Use the following IP
Address' to enter your own address...?

No disrespect, but are you sure you want to do this? It doesn't really sound
as if you really know what you are doing, is there no-one you can ask(a
network administrator, your ISP help-line etc.)? What is your reason for
wanting to change your address?

If you are on a network or connecting to the internet via an ISP, changing
your network settings could quite easily stop your connection from working
properly....

Regards,

Chris Mayers.
