unable to cache mail when connected with VPN

One customer of mine use Outlook 2003 with cached mode.

Although he is able to sync his mail offline when connected to LAN, he can't
syncronize his mail then connected with VPN.

I can't find any settings for this - anyone?

No error, and he is able to read the mail. But when he open Outlook without
connection, the new mail is not cached offline.

Everything works fine with LAN.

And Cached Mode is enabled and he can read the old e-mails off-line? Tried
recreating the ost-file already?

Yes - also tried to creat the ost file again. But today I am reinstalling his
computer for some other reasons - we'll see how it works.

The sync works fine from LAN but not VPN. But both times he is able to read
all new mails. Strange thing. Seems to me there could be a setting "not
syncronize when connected below 10MB" or something - but doesnt think this is
possuble in Outlook 2003.
