Unable to burn DVDs

I have a Matshita DVD-RAM LF-D311. It reads DVDs but I am not able to burn them. It fails to recognize my blank DVD-Rs and keeps asking for a blank DVD. I right clicked on the device icon and looked at "Properties". It did not show a "Record" option tab like the "Properties" on my CD device. It only shows a view for "General, AutoPlay, and Hardware. What should I do?

Download Nero InfoTool 2 from

Check under the Drive tab whether it is recognising your drive to have
writing capabilities (it should do). If it doesn't you should return the
drive.

Also, how many CD/DVD burners do you have on your system? Windows will only
allow you to have one enabled to use the Explorer burning engine, so if you
want to burn discs through Windows Explorer/My Computer make sure you go to
the one that is switched on and turn off the recording.

Which burning software are you trying to burn your DVDs with?
