Unable to browse network

I have a PC which can no longer browse the network. It
can browse the web.

The My network places | Entire Network | Microsoft
Windows Network is missing.

No firewall appears to be running.

A Net View from DOS shows the other PCs on the network,
but I cannot do a net use.

try and ping another computer on the network ... (if you
dont know the ip address type 'ipconfig' in a command
window (of the working machine)
