windows. am not asked to boot from the CD rom. Any suggestions.

Any advice given is my attempt to show appreciation for all
the excellent help I've received here but I'm no MVP so it
may only apply NUGS (Normally, Usually, Generally, Sometimes :)

Lots of things could be happening here. Make and model of your computer?
As this has nothing to do with Windows and everyone does it differently.
Another thing to add, does the CD drive work with Windows booted up? As
it may not work period.

Any why are you trying to run the Windows install disc anyway? This can
wipe out everything on the hard drive. If this is what you want, ok. But
if you just want to fix the Windows on the hard drive, you want the
repair option instead.

It would appear that the OP knows what his computer requires to boot
to the CMOS and change the boot order.

Good thought. One of the few I've seen from you.

Did you mean "anyway, why"?

Question doesn't apply to the problem. Stick to the issues.
