unable to boot even with SafeMode

I'm trying to boot but the machine keeps restarting when it reaches some
point before logon screen shows up and even before Windows XP logo.

I tried to use the different safe mode options but all failed to boot.
Something may be helpful to you is that when booting I remember it restarts
after loading some file I think its name mup.sys if I'm not mistaken.

I tried also to use the installation CD to repair both through Recovery
Console and reinstallation. using RC I couldnt run the restore command
(c:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe), and using reinstallation the
process goes on through
copying files and it stops right after it finishes copying (it cannot
initialize windows).

one thing more, I have a windows 2000 OS installed on a slave drive and it
is working fine.

Hi!

Have now been facing the same type problem. So far not resolving it, but
will
go on checking ...

The problem is not on mup.sys itself, but on some driver loaded in a second
or two after that ... Hard to say how to find/recognize the real problem
point,
maybe backing with some update, or detaching some components and rebooting,
or checking possible Stop Error details, or doing some other troubleshooting
etc.,
and as a last hope action try to Repair install the Windows with a full
licence Retail CD.
