Unable to add video from hard drive to movie maker

I have saved a DVD of old home movies to my hard drive and now cannot load
them in movie maker to add music. Does anyone have any suggestions or
possibly another program I can use? Going crazy trying to accomplish what
seems to be a simple task. Or maybe I am just simple! I made the DVD with
Sony VRD-VC30. HELP PLEASE!!!

Thank you John. I did skim those sights before when I noticed you
recommended them to someone else. I will read them more in depth and
hopefully get the answer I need. I'll let you know if this addled old brain
can comprehend the instructions. Thanks again! EmJa

Thanks for your advice. I followed the instructions from PaPaJohn's
newsletters and still couldn't get it to work. Then I actualy bought
WinMPGDVD ripper and was able to convert my old movie files to AVI and then
put into Movie Maker. Maybe this advice will help someone else. Hated to
buy a program but I did use the option to try it (saving 50% of a file until
I bought the whole version) to see if it would work and it seemed to. Thanks
again for the advice
