Unable to add Contacts with email addresses to Distribution Lists

I have a large address book of contacts with email addresses (Outlook
2007). When I try to add contacts to the distribution list A) It
shows only the name and not the email address and B) when I add a
contact I KNOW has an email address, it doesn't add the name to the
list. I did this in previous version without issue. Any ideas?

Outlook does not even have an address book. State what you mean by "address
book."
Contacts can only reside in Contacts Folders. State how you are tying to add
them to a DL and exactly what happens when you try.
