I'll try to be brief.
OS: winxp pro sp1
Hardware: pc clone, intel p3 1226mhz, 512mb ram, ide raid controller card
with a pair of
wd 80gb ide hdd's configured as one raid 1 drive. Raid
drive contains three
volumes each around 50gb ntfs file system.
Problem: After removing a DVD RW and replacing it with a CDRom windows
can't access
two of the volumes on the raid disk.
I'm not sure if changing the drives is what caused the
problem but the problem didn't
exist before that.
In explorer the drives are labeled "local disk" and if I
try to access them I get an error
that the drive is not formatted. So it would seem that the
"mbr" or the "fat" has been
damaged or lost.
I've tried a number of things with no success. Tried to use
the recovery console but
I can't remember the admin pw. I thought that I had left it
blank, but just hitting the
return key doesn't work..
I've got almost 100gb of data on those two volumes(I hope) I really don't
want to loose it!
Any help with the original problem or the password problem would really be
appreciated.
TIA
Rick
