Whenever I move a file or a directory (using drag 'n drop) I cannot do
anything with the file/directory afterward; nor can I move it again.
The directory properties shows the Read-only box with a greyed check.
Unchecking the box brings up a window with with two choices:
o Apply to folder only -- When unchecking the first and clicking
Apply it appears to work. Except that when rechecking the
attributes, the box is still checked.
o Apply to folder, subfolders and files -- Get an error saying
that an error occured when apply attributes. Access is denied.
Clicking Ignore or Ignore All has no effect.
I also tried using "attrib" to reset both Read-Only and Hidden attributes.
That didn't work.
Then, I tried using Safe Mode. Couldn't get Safe Mode to start and had
to use the Recovery Console, which didn't work.
Lost are some files that I cannot replace.
I do have admin privs on XP Pro SP2 with all updates.
