Read Only Folders

All my folders are Read Only, no idea why, I don't have anything shared either. I can't rename, delete, or move any of them folders or the files in them. I've tried unchecking the box under properties but it only reverts back to read only. I've tried setting the attributes through command prompt. I've run spyware and antivirus software, I've checked startup items in msconfig, sysedit, and regedit. The only way it worked was booting into safe mode with command prompt and was manually able to delete files that way. Need help...

Two things going on here.
First, folders will all be marked read-only, usually in a greyed check box.
You can't change it, and it doesn't really have any effect anyway. Don't
sweat it.

As to not being able to modify the folders or their contents, this may be an
ownership problem. On one of the offending folders, right-clcik and go to
Properties, Security tab, Advanced button, Owner tab. Is your account name
shown as the owner? If not, and your account name is shown in the Change
owner to box below, highlight your account and press Apply.
