Unable to Access Applications on Company Server using VPN

My PC Troubleshooting customer works for a large financial institution. She
wants to work from home with her Dell desktop, Windows XP-Home; it is
spyware/virus clean with all the Windows updates. It has an updated Norton
Enterprise.

She logs in using a VPN called Tunnel Guard (I think). The VPN and Login
versions are current. The Citrix extensions versions are current.

The problem arises when she tries to use the Applications at work. These
are: MSOffice, Adobe Reader, LotusNotes and more. When she clicks on these
application icons, there is a brief progress meter and nothing opens. We are
using IE version 6.0.29. We turned off the Windows firewall, the popup
blockers, and cleared all Add-ins using the IEManager.

Here is the kicker: We can open the applications using Firefox. In other
words, the problem appears to be related to MS IE! The Help Desk Tech Support
is mystified by this.

What is it between IE and Citrix that is causing the applications to not open?
