I was at other newsgroup: MSN Gaming Zone a few days ago and they are trying to find solution.

I wanted to un-istall a particular directory:MSN Gaming Zone. I did try by going to ADD/REMOVE Programs to unistall it.
It was succesfully unistalled. But I checked it by going to the directory via CMD. It is something like DOS Screen with C:/ prompt. And DIR to that directory. There are still some remaining directories and files there although it was done unistalled.

To make story short, prior to the un-istall the program:MSN Gaming Zone was never working right. That is why un=istall was necessary. I tried to delete Windows sub directory. It is not the same as Windows. Nevertheless after deleting the Windows Sub Directory. All directories are wiped clean. Then re-installed MSN Gaming Zone. It was a complete success! I can play bord games. But I lost Outlook Express Connection. It was a bad, fightening experience but it lasted an hour. I quickly system restored to the prior day and Internet and Outlook Express were back to connection. Whew! But the MSN Gaming Program did not work.

By now you will notice it has lots to do with the Windows sub directory. I am asking if I should list files in that sub Windows directory here to recommend particular file deletions. Or make other suggestions.

spelling correction attention: UN-INSTALL not UN-ISTALL !!

To reinstall the games that are normally in the ...\Program Files\MSN
Gaming Zone, use Add/Remove Programs> Add/Remove Windows Components. With
"Accessories and Utilities" highlighted, click the Details button. Click
Games and then Details again. You'll see "Internet Games" as one of the
options.

If there are checks here, Windows things these things are still installed.
Remove the checks. Click OK until back to the desktop. Then return to the
same area and replace the check mark to reinstall.

NOTE: You may be prompted at this point for a CD. Insert your WinXP CD and
follow the on screen directions. If your Windows was preinstalled, you may
not have an XP CD. Often the OEMs will supply a folder on the hard drive
that can be used instead. If necessary, contact the OEM if necessary for
the location of the needed folder. You may even want to wait on
reinstalling these games until you know that location.

The above is for reinstalling the games.

The Zone changes the ActiveX controls it uses now and then. Upgrades to new
versions don't always go smoothly. These controls are separate from the
games. It's possible that your games are just fine and these controls are
what needs fixing. You can uninstall and then reinstall to sort out a
version soup.

Find this folder:
....\Windows\Downloaded Programs\
Then delete the items listed here for the Zone. Close all browser windows.
Then relaunch the browser and go to the Zone. When you get there, the site
will offer to download the controls needed to play the online games. Say
yes, if you want these back.

I dont need assistance for MSN Gaming Zone, too anymore because re-install
on fifth attempt puts it to work at last!

Sharon,

Thanks for important tips. If trouble crops up again, I will follow your
instructions with Accessories and Utilites highlighted and replace controls
if needed in Windows/Downloaded Games.

Although your instructions are indeed important, hope there is no need to
use them. So far the board games are great and fun.
I have been skunked a few times already.

Thank You, Sharon.
