When i 1st installed SP2 i was quite surprised. All the programs that were
supposed to have problems with SP2 worked fine. i.e Norton etc.

However today i realised that all my Digital satellite/terrestrial and Psion
wavefinder would not work with SP2. I tried everything but to no avail.

I have gone back to SP1 and guess what, everything works fine again.

Never touching SP2 again!!!!

Not even when your software suppliers get their finger out and release
versions of their software that work with SP2?

and what would you suggest with legacy software?
if, through no fault of you own, the original manufacturer is no
longer in business for example?

Well if the choice is between installing a major security patch and
continuing to use old software then what i'd suggest is that you've got a
tough choice that only you can decide on. I personally would suggest that
upgrading to SP2 was important enough to prevail, but you don't have to do
it right now, so you could research alternatives for the old software. Or
you could use a product such as VMWare or Virtual PC to run the old software
in its own "sandbox" - which is an interesting idea as you can then run the
legacy software on the OS it was originally designed for, and it will
probably work better than it currently does anyway!

There is a problem with the Wavefinder, that appeared at a late state of
the Beta and was reported to MSoft and Psion - as yet no resolution
