Ughhh...nothing in Media Player 10 is working-help!

Here's the problem;

Windows Media Player 10 will not play any music I have downloaded from
either Walmart.com or MSNMusic. ( or any files other files that I have
legally acquired from the internet). When I downloaded these songs, I had
properly checked "acquire licenses automatically for protected content". When
I try to play them, the player either hangs and does nothing (to where I have
to shut it down in the Windows Task Manager) or it tells me that the files
are protected and can't be played.

When I try to "backup licenses" it starts by telling me that there are
already backed-up licenses in the file, do I want to replace them? I say yes
and then even if I let it run for 3 or more hours (I only have about 20
songs), it continues to show the backup box moving files but it never
finishes.

When I try and restore licences, it tells me that "there are no backed up
licenses on my computer", even after it prompted me during backup that there
are already backed up licenses on my computer.

OK, is it time to remove Windows Media Player 10 and do a clean re-install?

I'm running Windows XP w/SP2 on a 1.7ghz p4 with 756 mb Ram.

Thanks

You did not state what format the music is that you downloaded. Are they
MP3s, WMAs, WAV, etc??? Have you checked for tech support from Walmart?
Does WMP support the formats that you have downloaded, if it does not, then
they will not play, period.

Ooops...sorry.
They were WMA files. They played perfectly when I first bought them . It was
one of those....one day they just stopped working. The licensing thing I
mentioned in my first post. Since my earlier post, I have re'installed
Windows Media Player 10 and they are playing again w/no licensing errors or
anything. Maybe I had a corrupted file in my Media Player.

Thanks.
