I'm putting Linux Ubuntu on an old'ish laptop but within the Linux specs.
I'm currently in the 'prepare disk space' & ticked the default saying 'resize IDE 1 master partition #1(hda1) and use free space' the round icon is going round, but it's taking a long time. Is this normal, or should i cancel and re-try?

No!

I'm going to try it again tomorrow & see if it works then.
But any ideas why it's not????

then ... it is taking too long ...

Why are you "resizing" the drive ? Is Windows on there to ? what drive is it ?

I would delete all partitions and tell Linux to use the unalocated disk space, Linux (Ubuntu) will then sort it all out for you with the correct size partitions. :thumb:

Just a quick thought -

It may be better to first go into windows and do a Defrag -

But only if its have a small hard drive and you use it a lot - this may help...... speed up the process.....
