Hi everyone,

I am currently a Linux user (not my choice, I was given a laptop with it on!).
Anyway I'm using ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com) and lets just say I miss the
simplicity of Windows! Especially when it comes to compatible drivers.

Anyway how can I get my Laptop ready for Vista? If I bought Vista could I
just pop it in the disk drive and the installation would get rid of ubuntu or
would I have to re-format my hard-drive? and then install windows vista?

I'm really not very technical when it comes to operating systems, I know how
to use them but that's about it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

William

P.S. My laptop is Windows Vista Compatible and I know it has the correct
specs to run vista, hard drive, ram, etc

Hello William
Gone are the days when you had to be an advanced user to perform reformats,
drive partitions and os installations.

Boot into the BIOS on your laptop and change the boot sequence to boot from
the CD/DVD drive first.
Insert the Vista disk in the DVD drive and reboot. Follow instructions to
reformat your hard drive, which will erase Ubuntu and perform a clean install
of Windows Vista.

Hope this is all you need.
Cheers!

Vista's installation will [I believe] not reformat for you, you have to do it
manually.

It will if the volume is not already formatted NTFS.
