I have found that the U-storage utility supplied with a variety of USB
memory drives causes a BSOD (bad pool header) error under SP2. It was
OK under SP1 and the USB drive works OK if the utility is uninstalled.
With the U-storage utility installed a BSOD occurs when the drive is
inserted (USB2).

Anyone els see this or is it just me?

I'm still researching USB problems prior to rolling out SP2.
There have been more than a few problems associated with USB devices.

Unfortunately, I'm still searching.

This error you are getting due to U-storage utility compatibility.Contact
your usb vendor and ask for upgraded software.

I have done that and got a useless response directing me to MS
knowedge base! (Which I told them I had already searched)

I thought it was a compatiblity problem with the U-storage software
but have not been able t locate an updated version anywhere.

Have you seen this issue as well?

GrahamU,

I too have had similar problems to yourself with my PQI usb2 drive
They started after installing SP2. I contacted PQI support and receive
reply stating that the software vendor is aware of the problem and wil
issue updated software. In the meantime I should use the unsecur
portion of the drive which does not need the U-Storage software.

Not too helpful as my data was on the secure area and I could no
access it!

So, I started a search for updated U-Storage software and I believe
have found a version that will work under SP2. It's version 2.91
Here's the link: http://tinyurl.com/5oqol

I have installed it and it seems to work ok. One thing though, when yo
log out of the secure area, you have to close the program as well befor
it will allow you to remove the usb disk. ie. right click on the re
padlock (in the system tray) and choose exit and then click on the us
thing to stop the device so you can remove it.

Give this version a go if you like and do post back here to let us kno
how you get on.

Hey thanks!

I had done a search but it was before the date on this update (3
Sept).

This seems to work well for me and I don't have the log out issue you
do either.
