typeing onto scanned documents

How do I type on to scanned document saved on file/save as. I have sent this
message before and still trying to get to grips with this facility and pardon
me if i'm a nusience.

A scanned document will be a graphic and not editable in Word, unless you
use OCR (optical character recognition) software to convert the scanned
image to text.

You can however set the layout property of the inserted image to 'behind
text' and write *over* it.

Very sorry about this but I was a newcomer to this site and I'm a bit wiser
now .
Thanks for your patience. Feel free to pull me up again as learning by
