How do I create a signature for pasting into a word document

How can I create and save a signature for pasting onto the bottom of a Word
document, or other document for that matter, other than scanning.

You will not create a convincing signature without some form of scanning
device. If you have a fax modem and fax software installed (Windows XP comes
with fax software that is not installed by default) fax a document
containing signatures to your PC from a publicly available fax machine and
then edit the best of the signatures using graphics editing software.
