I have Powerpoint 2003, bought in the USA which I have alwasys used in
English. I now have a need to make a presentation with both English and
Chinese. Once I get all of the English into the slides, I would like to
change a a setting so the my Chinese friend can enter in the translations in
Chinese. Can someone here tell me how to do that?

Thank you in advance.

I'm not to swift at this but I think some combination of the following should
get you going:

In Windows, use Control Panel, Regional and Language Options
On the Languages tab, checkmark "Install files for East Asian languages."
Click Details and add Chinese (check with your friend to find out which
version) to the list of available languages.

Once you add add'l languages, Windows will add a language bar either as a
freefloating toolbar or down next to the system tray. Whatever language you
want, it'll usually be in some other one, so use this to change it.

Start PPT and see if picking Chinese in the language bar gets you going.

If not, quit and use Start, Settings, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Office Tools
(pant pant pant ... almost there ...) Microsoft Office 2003 Language Settings.

Select and enable the language(s) you think you'll want to use in Office.

Give that a go
