Text files cannot be opened in Excel. This message says
"The file may be read-only or yo may be trying to access a read-only location, or the server the document is stored on may not be responding". I've checked properties and network access. Any ideas

This has happened to me but for different reasons. Did you
copy this file from a diskette or did you create it
yourself?

The problem I encountered was that my floppy drive was not
writing properly but once i chaged the floppy drive
setting to write-behind caching, all is well now.

You will have to find a backup copy of the txt file. Try
opening it in wordpad or notepad or word for windows. if
it opens thenresave it as a .txtfile, overwrite, yes.

Thanks for responding...I am exporting a text file from
another program to my hard drive, then I try to import it
into Excel as a tab delimited file. That's when I get
this message. How do I change to write-behind caching on
my hard drive?
