98 - file cannot be accessed

Hello,

I've been trying to open an excel file and it gives me:
cannot be accessed.The file maybe read only or you may be
trying to access a read only location. Or the server the
document is stores on may not be responding.

Any ideas how to solve it?

I had same problem. I was trying to access a file on Novell server. I patched Novell Client 4.83 with service pack 2 and that did the trick.
