error in opening file on network

try open the excel file from the network then this error occur
"filename.xls cannot be accessed.The file may be read-only,or you may be
trying to access a read-only location.Or, the server the document is stored
on may not be responding"
Im using Windows XPSP2 and excel2000SR3.
I look on the event viewer log on system,event ID 26,description:
Application popup :Machine Check: Regs

Is this the only file on that share you can not open? Can others access the
