Two boot screens?

I installed a second OS. It wasn't what I thought it would be, so I removed
it. Problem is that there is boot screen with five options: 1,2, and three
are variations of the added OS, 4 is "other operating systems, and 5 is
Windows NT/2000/XP. I have several seconds to choose #5 or the highlighted
intruder tries to boot. When I raster down to the XP choice, the next screen
is the standard Windows XP screen with it's two choices. How do I get rid of
this first screen that the other OS installed? Thanjs for any help.

Google for "edit boot.ini".

click start, then run
type:
msconfig
click "boot.ini" tab
Click button:
check all boot paths

That should remove the menu

BTW, if that second OS that you talked about is Vista, it will be different.
I did it once, but I forgot how.

Actually, it was Linux Unbuntu. It is their boot screen that is prior to the
windows screen. I probably need to be quizzing them about this and not you
guys. I was just hoping their was a simple solution to eradicate this screen.
I thank you all for the help, however.

sorry, can't help. I'm no linux user, but I gather that your linux boot menu
has the same behaviour as windows vista (difficult to be removed or edited).
I actually successfully uninstall windows vista, and delete its boot menu
without damaging my xp, all of them by accident. That's why I forgot how.

In bbstacker_val4 had this to say:

My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:

If that's the case you'll need to clear your MBR to get rid of the grub boot
loaded and then rebuild it.
