Installed tweakui on win xp home - it is in the 'add/remove' program list
but is NOT in the control panel list. (Did remove old copy thereof.)

How can I execute it?

It's on your Start Menu.

Start -> All Programs -> Powertoys for Windows XP -> TweakUI.

Or you can go to Start -> Run and enter TweakUI in the Open
box.

Good luck

It usually installs as a menu item in your Programs list - look for
Powertoys for XP...

In Windows 9X, TweakUI was a control panel applet, but it doesn't work that
way in Windows XP, where it's a stand-alone program. You should find it
under Start | Programs. Or do a search for tweakui.exe.

Start | Run | Type: tweakui | Click OK

Start Menu\Programs\Powertoys for Windows XP\Tweak UI

You can also add TweakUI to the Control Panel with
xp_AddTweakUItoControlPanel.vbs from
here...
1. Add XP TweakUI Icon to the Control Panel
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Adds...
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{D14ED2E1-C75B-443c-BD7C-FC03B2F08C17}
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Explorer\ControlPanel\NameSpace\{D14ED2E1-C75B-443c-BD7C-FC03B2F08C17}

To all who replied (my computer was inaccessible for a few days -so I could
not respond to your answers.)

Yes I accidentally found it in the program list.

Some other posts have said something about TABS (old tweakui had tabs but
the new version does not.)

In addition it seemed that some of the old options are missing from the new
one.

Reason for question - I cannot log in as administrator (no icon or won't
accept passwords [that I have set and reset several times]) and I thought
that tweakui would help clear this up.

Thanks again to all for the help.

Correct.
Reason for question - I cannot log in as administrator (no icon or won't
accept passwords [that I have set and reset several times]) and I thought

The Administrator account exists in Windows XP Home Edition, but it does not
typically appear on the Welcome logon screen. In Windows XP Home Edition
the Administrator account is not displayed in User Accounts unless the
computer is in Safe mode. You have to boot into Safe Mode to access the
Administrator account in User Accounts.

Start | Settings | Control Panel | User Accounts

1. Click Start, click Turn Off Computer and then click Restart.
2. After the computer completes the Power On Self Test (POST), press F8, and
then click Safe mode

NOTE: If you have difficulty getting to the Safe mode menu command, press F8
repeatedly after you turn on the computer.

NOTE: If F8 does not work, use the System Configuration Tool Method to
access Safe Mode.

3. Log on as an Administrator or with another account that has
Administrator permissions.
4. Click Start, click Settings, click Control Panel and then click User
Accounts.
5. Click the Administrator icon.

Error Message: Unable to Log You on Because of an Account Restriction
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290109

[[On a Windows XP Professional-based computer that is a member of a
workgroup, you have the option of using the friendly logon interface as
opposed to the classic Windows logon interface. If you add a second user
that has administrative privileges, the built-in Administrator account does
not appear during the friendly logon method.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem so that you can access the original Administrator
account:
1. Press the CTRL+ALT+DELETE key combination twice during the friendly logon
interface to use the conventional Windows 2000 logon interface.
2. Restart the computer in Safe mode, or log on remotely by using Remote
Desktop and the Autologon feature of the Remote Desktop Client. ]]
