turning off virus control

I have win xp and need to turn off Virus control to play some games. I need
help in doing this I have tryed everythinf but the right thing.

windows does not have a preinstalled anti virus. So if you have one, you
need to open it up and read the help to disable....

But keep in mind that if your personal anti virus is blocking your
program/game, there may be a "very good reason"....

1. What games?

2. How do you know you have to do this?

3. What anti-virus program do you run that you want to disable?

If it were me, I would choose not to run the games in question rather than
run the risk of not having a running anti-virus program.
