Turning off the restart nag?

J

John Dalberg

After doing an install for an update, XP asked me to restart now or later.
Told it to restart later. It keeps nagging me to restart once every while.
How can I turn this off? I am *not* asking how to turn off automatic
updates.

Restart your PC. Do not wait "days" to restart it since the update will fix
problems/security issues in XP.

I wasn't planning to wait for days. My computer is running a few things and
I don't want to stop them while I am working to reboot. The nag is annoying
because it's a window that shows up in the middle of the screen instead of
a tip on the task bar like the automatic updates alert does. It's annoying
because it comes up frequently. So my attitude is "Ya I know I need to
reboot.. so hang on while I finish here".

I had a recycler problem, logged on, and got message download ready to
install, ok, start to research problem in news groups and get message need to
restart, restart later. By the time I finished researching my problem, that
reminder must have been displayed two dozen times. I don't want to kill the
messenger, just the message. I'll try moving it off the screen, but I'll
still "know" its there.

Thanks Wes the smilie helped, I did move the message box as far off the
screen as possible and finished solving my other problem, then restarted the
machine.
