Restart

I have an HP that came with Xp Home.
I upgraded to Xp Pro.

Restart does not go thru the complete cycle. It closes but doesn't
re-start. I have to turn off the computer and turn it back on. Mostly this
is just a bother except when installs or updates have an automatic restart
as part of the install.

I called HP and all they blab is that I "modified" their system, so tough.

Any ideas?
I have tried a "repair" cycle.

Thanks, but there were no answers there. It mostly concerns the exact
opposite of my problem.

But thanks for taking the time to answer.
